Community involvement is a significant part of NMIA’s culture and corporate focus.
NMIA Airport Limited has found meaningful connections to the communities that are often full of talent, but require opportunity to prosper. We have worked with residents in “Clean up” and “Beatification” exercises in Port Royal and have assisted with the renovation of schools in the area. At present, we are contributing to the development of a major high school in the airport catchment area, the Donald Quarrie High School – our assistance spans many years and is being formalized in the Adopt-A-School programme.
We are actively involved in ensuring that the picturesque Palisadoes peninsula, a national protected area, is adequately maintained for posterity. Our annual fund-raising NMIA- Palisadoes Walkathon provides needed capital to facilitate the on-going beach cleanup. This event enhances our relationship between the Airport and business communities and enriches the lives of our employees, in ways that other aspects of our business mandate could not. We are happy for this.
We have expanded the scope of our social responsibility and are actively participating in the national Adopt-A-Roadway programme, with emphasis on the Harbour View Roundabout which is situated enroute to the Airport, as well as the intersection between Windward Road and the Norman Manley Boulevard.
We remain committed to bringing vital resources to our national and geographic communities. Our business activity serves as a catalyst for development.
